About

Hi, I’m Nathaniel Flick, Managing Director of Dirt and Rust, and I’m a web developer/designer who started out in print design back in 1995 when Photoshop had no layers and one undo. Trying times!

I moved into web in 2000 and started doing web exclusively in 2007 and never looked back, there’s just something about the semi-permanence and fluidity (and feedback) about the web that excites me to no end.

I build websites

These days I develop websites in WordPress and am getting into mobile applications and mobile websites. The mobile space is the next frontier.

I relaunched Dirt and Rust in August 2011 after my year at Young & Shand where I helped triple it in size as Digital Director and learned heaps about digital marketing and integrating different channels for the best customer attraction.

My process

My process revolves around three design stages:

  1. Sketch/Style Board
  2. Wireframe/Hand Drawn Mockup for Position
  3. Hi Fi/Actual Design

Design work is all done in these stages makes sure the client and I are always on the same page. The above steps cover off requirements well for a project and this makes it go smoothly.

I also do SEO with every site I build and add SEM when required. The goal is to make a website searchable and accessible to search engines at all times; consistent content is key.
